Creating a Product Video Ad with Freepik: A Complete Tutorial
What began as an experimental journey to test the full range of Freepik's AI capabilities resulted in a streamlined workflow for creating a high-quality product video ad. This tutorial documents the entire process, from a single image to a complete, shareable video. That you can use for client projects or showcasing your own products.
Here's a step-by-step guide to creating your own.
Note: You will need a paid Freepik subscription for this tutorial.
Step 1: Image Preparation and Upscaling
The foundation of a compelling video ad is a high-quality visual. The process begins with importing an image and using Freepik's integrated tools to enhance it.

Import Midjourney Image: Start with an image generated from Midjourney. You can also use Freepik AI image generators or even your own product photo.
Expand Background: Use Freepik's inbuilt editor to expand the background of the image, giving you more flexibility for video composition.
Upscale with Magnific: To enhance fine details, use the Magnific tool to upscale the image.

Pro Tip: The better your image is at the start, the better quality video you will get. So spend a bit of time making sure you’re 100% happy with the image
Midjourney Prompt:
high tech transparent phone where you can see all the components underneath. floating in the air, profile view, product design, minimalism, Y2K style, matte plastic surfaces, plain gray background, studio lighting, hyper-realistic, Octane render.
Step 2: Video Generation and Enhancement
With a refined image, the next step is to bring it to life using Freepik’s video generation tools. I used the MiniMax Hailuo 02 model, which was available for unlimited free use at the time. Currently Seedance 1.0 Pro is free to use.

Video Prompt:
Dynamic close-up shot: A transparent smartphone hovers in mid-air, revealing its intricate internal components. The camera slowly rotates around the device, highlighting the details of the circuitry and chips, while soft backlighting enhances the sleek design.
Image to Video: Use the upscaled image as a reference to generate a video.
Extend Video: The initial video was 6 seconds long. The "extend video" feature was used to add an extra 4 seconds, bringing the total length to 10 seconds.

Video Upscaler: To improve the video quality, the inbuilt video upscaler was used. A handy slider is available to compare the video before and after upscaling.
AI Sound Effects: To add dynamic audio, the AI sound effects generator was used to create "deep base and whooshing sound with movements."
Step 3: Final Editing and Assembly
The final stage of the process involves moving to a video editor to assemble all the elements into a cohesive ad. You can use a separate video editor but for this short demo Freepik editor works great. It also makes it easy to insert more AI generated features directly into it. Like voice and sound effects.

Add Sound Effects: You can use the video sound effects feature. It will take your video and create sounds based on what it is seeing. I prompted a deep base and whoosing sound.

Add AI Voiceover: An AI-generated voiceover saying "technology, redefined" was added to convey the product message. I choose Henry Beckett.
Incorporate Background Music: Add a music track to complement the visuals and sound effects. Freepik has a great selection of stock music to choose from.
Mix and Export: Tweak the audio levels and timing of all sound elements to ensure a balanced mix. Once satisfied, export the final video.
Key Takeaways & Tips
This experimental project offered several insights into creating with Freepik's AI tools.
Workflow Speed:
The most significant advantage is the speed. Having all the tools in one place allows you to move from a static image to a finished video incredibly fast.
The entire process feels like you're "vibe creating" fast.
AI Model & Cost:
The video was generated using the MiniMax Hailuo 02 model.
At the time of creation, this was unlimited and free, which is perfect for experimentation without worrying about costs.
I used around 2700 credits for the video and on the paid plans this is barely making a dent.
Sound Design:
Freepik's AI can generate specific audio. I prompted for "deep base and whooshing sound with movements" and it delivered.
The ability to add an AI voiceover directly in the editor is a powerful feature for ads and explainers.
All in one speed:
The seamless workflow is the key takeaway. Moving from the image expander to the Magnific upscaler, then to the video generator, extender, and final editor without leaving the platform is highly efficient.
The video upscaler with its comparison slider is a useful touch for quality control.
Embrace Experimentation:
This project started with no goal other than to "vibe create" and test features. This freedom led to a fun, pressure-free process that still resulted in a quality product.
Don't be afraid to just jump in and see what happens. The tools are intuitive enough for rapid, on-the-fly creation.
Final Thoughts
This project was a fun exploration of what you do while "vibe creating." Without a specific goal in mind, the focus was on experimenting with as many of Freepik's features as possible.
The experience highlighted how Freepik enables incredibly fast creation, allowing for a rapid transition from a simple idea to a finished product. It felt like creating in super speed, showcasing the power of integrated AI tools in the creative process.
With this workflow you will be able to create your own product ads which you can use for clients or to promote your own products.
Happy creating!
Got questions about the process? Want to share your own Freepik experiments? I'd love to see what you create with these techniques.
This tutorial documents my real experience creating this. Results may vary, and the technology is constantly evolving – but the core principles should remain useful for anyone diving into AI.
